March 20, 2012It’s no secret that we are huge fans of Wood-Mode fine custom cabinetry, and as Houston’s #1 Wood-Mode Exclusive Lifestyle Designs Showroom we always look forward to seeing their latest innovations. Wood-Mode recently introduced walnut into their family of cabinetry options, and we could not be more pleased. Walnut is a popular finish, and for good reason; walnut is a strong, durable wood that is also lightweight—perfect for cabinetry. In addition, walnut has great finishing and woodworking qualities which finish nicely. Prized for veneer panels, furniture, doors, and cabinetry, walnut lends warmth and richness to any room.
About Walnut
Walnut has a straight, open grain though burls and curls do occur in some boards; while moderately dense, walnut is very strong and has good shock-resistance. When it comes to color there are great variations in walnut wood, with the heartwood ranging from deep, dark browns to purple-brown and the sapwood quite light in color, creamy white to tan. Walnut finishes well, making it prized for cabinetry and furniture, and takes darker stains beautifully.
Durability is an important feature for a kitchen cabinet, one that justifies spending a little more for a harder, more resilient material. Kitchens are high-traffic and sometimes, high-impact areas of the house. A high-quality, durable walnut cabinet will last for years, and look absolutely beautiful year after year.
The rich warmth of walnut can successfully integrate into almost any home aesthetic. Whether your kitchen is sleek and modern, or more traditional, a walnut cabinet lends an exotic richness to any décor. You can create a distinctive look for your kitchen using walnut cabinets by choosing from select groups of Wood-mode door styles in Design Group 42 and Design Group 48.
- Design Group 42 is comprised of cabinets from Wood-Mode’s traditional, framed-construction cabinetry.
- Design Group 84 is comprised of frameless styles of Wood-Mode cabinets; these cabinets range from more traditional-looking, to those with a more modern aesthetic.
