Creating a Budget
January 15, 2013New Cabinets for Your Kitchen: Wood-Mode and Brookhaven
January 29, 2013Looking ahead for 2013 we are already seeing trend predictions emerge for home renovation and design. The trick to incorporating trendsinto your home is two-fold:
- Think about how to ground trends into an overall timeless design, and;
- Building on the existing “bones” of your home to integrate new designs with their surroundings.
White Kitchens
We actually wrote about the white kitchen trend several months ago, and we have seen it mentioned again and again in design articles. White kitchens are popular because they harmonize the concepts of “modern contemporary” and “warm traditional” through the use of dual-tones, countertop textures, and appliance finishes.
Environmental/Green
The green trend is here to stay, so you might say it’s “evergreen”! Whether you are committed to choosing energy-efficient appliances, or buying from companies—like Wood-Mode/Brookhaven—who are dedicated to manufacturing their products in a more sustainable way, your designer can help point you to ways to create an environmentally-friendly remodel.
In Color
In addition to white, other color trends are emerging for 2013. In particular, the use of “new neutrals”—colors that are neutral, but still visually interesting. Among some of our favorites: olive, camel and coffee colors, and navy blue. By utilizing neutral color palettes in modern shades you update the look of your home, while maintaining the ability to redecorate with a wide variety of accent colors down the road.
