Reorganizing Your Kitchen
February 5, 2013Reorganizing Closets and Bedrooms
February 19, 2013We hope you enjoyed last weeks’ blog on reorganizing your kitchen, and that you will find this week’s topic—reorganizing your bathroom—just as useful.
Is there another spot in the home that gets as cluttered, and as quickly, as our bathrooms? Products, styling tools, makeup, towels and washcloths, clothes and hampers—everything just gets sort of dropped where they are when it’s time to hurry out the door. Our favorite organization solutions might not solve all of your problems, but they can help you cut down on the clutter and keep the bathroom neat and tidy.
Vertical Space
Mounting organizers like towel racks and adhesive cups can help you keep items off of the horizontal spaces of your bathroom, where clutter tends to build up quickly. For example, mounting toothbrush holders on the inside of your medicine cabinet door frees up space.
Adding towel bars on the back of the bathroom door is another way to get towels out of the way; plus, hanging towels gives them room to dry properly, eliminating mildew.
Shelve It
Installing shelves or cubby holes can serve storage and decorative purposes. Buy inexpensive, clear glass containers and fill with cotton balls, Q-Tips, and other accessories for storage that doubles as decoration.
Adding baskets to shelving storage further organizes your gear—choose wicker or canvas if you want to “hide” the contents, or go with open wire if you want to display items like towels, soaps, or pretty accessories.
Cabinets & Drawers
It might be time to install new bathroom cabinets, and that’s where we come in—visit us at Cabinets & Designs to talk to a designer about your options for improving your bathroom with a remodel. If a total cabinet installation isn’t in your budget right away, use drawer dividers, sliding baskets, and drawer inserts to keep items organized; another great tip is to assign each family member a separate drawer for stashing their bathroom essentials.
