Life after Remodeling: What’s next?
July 31, 2012The Cabinets & Designs Team
August 14, 2012Cabinets & Designs is proud to announce that we are celebrating 40 years in the kitchen and bath industry this year! It’s hard to believe that forty years have gone by, and we are so grateful to our clients, new and old. Many of you have used us because your parents, or even your grandparents are our clients and that is something to be proud of—and believe us, we are.
In the 40 years Cabinets & Designs has been in operation, we have seen Houston change considerably. In fact, once we started thinking about how long we have been around, we started wondering—where do we rank among other “Houston landmarks”? So we bring you a list—a list of things Cabinets & Designs is older than! And we have all of you to thank, for keeping us around for so long. We are proud to be 40!
Astrodome
While we aren’t technically older than the Astrodome (it was built in 1965, and we opened in in 1972) we have lasted longer! The Astrodome at Reliant Park was designed to host both baseball and football games, but baseball at the Astrodome only lasted for 34 years (1965-1999) and football lasted for 31 years (1965-1996). We outlasted the unofficial Eighth Wonder of the World!
Pennzoil Place
The distinctive Pennzoil Place towers add visual interest to Houston’s skyline with their unique, trapezoidal shape. The towers were completed in 1975, making Cabinets & Designs three years older than these significant architectural landmarks.
The Wortham Fountain
The beautiful, starburst-shaped Wortham Fountain was constructed in 1978, making Cabinets & Designs six years older!
JP Morgan Chase Tower
The tallest building in Texas is the 10th tallest building in the U.S. The JP Morgan Chase Tower (or “Texas Commerce Tower” as it is still often called) was completed in 1981, making Cabinets & Designs nine years her senior.
Children’s Museum of Houston
Voted #1 Children’s Museum in America by Parents magazine, the museum has won numerous other awards, including the Nickelodeon Parents’ Pick “Best Museum in Houston” (2009, 2010) and Click2Houston’s “Best Museum 2010”. Founded in 1980, we are older than CMH by eight years!
Thank you again, Houston, for all the great memories. We look forward to building more—here is to the next 40 years!
