Dave Steffan, Sr., President & Founder of Cabinets & Designs
Dave opened Cabinets & Designs in 1972, but by then he had already established himself as the first Wood-Mode dealer in Houston (1966); by 1971 Dave was the representative for all of Central and South Texas. Still involved in the daily aspects of work and business, Dave is the reason we can say, “Forty years and counting!”
“As we move forward into the second half of 2012, I am looking forward to what I believe will be one of our best years ever thanks to the hard work and effort of our great sales staff.” –Dave, Sr.
Maria Frank, Vice President
Maria is committed to maintaining the high standards her father established when starting Cabinets & Designs forty years ago. Continuing the tradition of exceptional customer service, combined with the highest quality products, Maria knows that every customer has individual needs and she strives to meet them, one client at a time.
“My 1st priority is always the customer and doing everything I can to support the designers so that the customer’s needs are taken care of. We place a high value on customer satisfaction and appreciate the investment they are making in their homes.” –Maria
Dave Steffan, Jr.
The Cabinet & Designs family tradition continues with Dave Steffan, Jr. With over 34 years of experience in the kitchen industry, Dave has worked as an Associate Representative for Wood-Mode, and most recently as In-House Kitchen Designer for Lovett Homes.
Maggie Grants
Kitchen designer Maggie Grants brings 20 years of experience—and plenty of passion—to the table when meeting with clients. Maggie received her Certified Kitchen Designer certificate in 1989, and has been helping homeowners blend beauty and function ever since.
“It seems that at least two out of every three kitchens that I am working on right now is white; I wonder what brought that on? White has a tendency to always be “in” but its popularity peaks every 10 years or so. It may have a wiped on glaze or it may have dry brush strokes or it may be solid, stark white but here it is again!” –Maggie
Robert E. Crellen
Bob’s resume is impressive: Over 50 years of experience—including designing kitchens for a President and business leaders—makes him an invaluable asset to Cabinets & Designs. His strong architectural and interior design backgrounds give Bob superior insight—and give clients results they love.
“I have had a good year working with a new designer on two kitchens and the promise of 2 or 3 more. I’ve been as busy as I want to be and more so at times!” –Bob
Grace Coffman, AKBD
Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer, Grace Coffman has been working in the industry for more than 12 years. No matter what space you want to redesign, Grace can help—from closets to kitchens, and from new constructions to remodels.
“More and more, I’m seeing the more mature client getting ready to move into their last home or the home that they finally want to remodel to really suit this stage in their life. When discussing cabinets, that translates into interior accessories or features that enable them to easily access everything they need and then store them in their own allotted spaces.” –Grace
Ashley Scherch
Ashley takes a creative approach to kitchen and bath, but focuses on combining timeless aesthetics with function. An Ohio State graduate with a degree in Interior Design, Ashley is the NKBA Texas Gulf Coast Chapter Vice President of Communications/Technology.
“It has been a wonderful year so far. Many clients are asking for more contemporary and transitional styles rather than the traditional style requested last year. I am looking forward to working on a project in one of Houston’s favorite high rises, using a combination of Macassar Ebony Wood Veneer and Matte Java on Cherry wood on a slab door. It is a very streamline, sleek kitchen design and I cannot wait to see the finished project.” –Ashley
Laura Avila-Minor
Laura is working toward her AKBD, and holds a degree in Interior Design from Lone Star College-Kingwood. Laura is the Secretary of NKBA Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, and a member of ASID and GHBA, Laura is passionate about kitchen and bath design that combines beauty, function, and innovation.
“In the past year I have learned so much and worked on several projects with my mentor, Ashley Scherch. I am currently working on a 1940’s home kitchen remodel located in Houston’s River Oaks area. I am very excited to share the finished design with you in upcoming blogs. Your continued business and support is greatly appreciated. I welcome the opportunity to create your vision with you.” –Laura
